Welcome!

We are delighted that you would like to learn about the Clear Creek Militia Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). Furthermore, we are always honored to share information with those who are interested in the DAR, and we continually look for new opportunities to promote DAR objectives within our local community.

The Clear Creek Militia Chapter, NSDAR,  is located in Mint Hill, North Carolina. We meet on the second Saturday of the month from January through May and September through December. Our meeting starts with the opportunity to share some refreshments and spend time with many wonderful ladies. We then conduct our regular business meetings and include an informative program for all to enjoy. Our programs cover a variety of topics, but they always tie back to the NSDAR mission of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

Please take some time to explore our website and get to know the ladies in our chapter a little better. You will be able to find out more about our chapter, our history, our activities, and our Patriots. We are a devoted and enthusiastic group of women who are involved in a wide range of activities. We look forward to having a chance to meet you soon!

Patriotism

Chapter members were honored to assist when The Moving Wall, the traveling half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, visited Mint Hill.  Members helped in the information tent and visited with many of the veterans.

Historic Preservation

To celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Kings Mountain, chapter members participated in a wreath- laying ceremony.

Education

Chapter members created a Constitution display to celebrate Constitution Week.

How to Join

Who Can Join the DAR?

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War, is eligible for membership. Our members can help you locate the necessary proof if you think you are eligible, but don’t yet have the documentation. Visit the National Society webpage for more information.

Application Process

For the application, you will need to provide vital statistics and links for each generation, starting with yourself and going back lineally to your Patriot. Our chapter registrar can help explain the types of documentation needed. You can also visit the NSDAR Genealogy webpage for information to help guide you through the beginning stages of your research.

Who is a Patriot?

A Patriot is anyone who supported the cause for American independence through military, civil, or patriotic service, which must occur during the period between 19 April 1775 and 26 November 1783. For a list of acceptable services, see the Accepted Revolutionary War Service webpage for more information.
